Dordt def. Robert Morris 4-1
HOW IT HAPPENED
A three run sixth inning was enough for Dordt as the Defenders turned away Robert Morris in play Thursday at Tucson, Arizona.
The two teams traded runs in the second inning with Dordt getting a run on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Marissa Vanden Berg. Robert Morris answered with a run on a hit and two errors.
Neither team was able to mount a serious threat until the top of the sixth when Dordt got runners on first and second with one out. Natalie Vos tripled in Carley De Roin and Kenzie Cunard and Vos scored on a throwing error for the 4-1 lead and Robert Morris was retired in order in the sixth and seventh innings as Vos secured the pitching win.
Dordt had a 10-2 hits advantage.
Vos was the winning pitcher with one unearned run allowed on two hits with two walks and seven strikeouts.
Kenzie Cunard, Natalie Vos and Carley De Roin all had two hits. Vos knocked in a pair of runs and Marissa Vanden Berg got credit for a run batted in.
