The Dordt College men's volleyball team honored its seniors on Saturday, but lost 3-1 against conference opponent Park. 

The Defenders had a strong performance in the first set. The teams were tied at 12 midway through, but a 6-0 run by Dordt provided the edge. The Pirates weren't able cut the deficit over the final few points and the Defenders won 25-19. 

Dordt's second set woes continued in the Saturday matchup. The Pirates took a 9-6 lead early and the Defenders couldn't respond. Park minimized its errors throughout the set and earned the 25-19 victory. 

Set three followed a similar pattern to set two. A 9-3 lead to start for the Pirates was all they needed. Dordt never got closer than six points and lost 25-14. 

The fourth and final set was another challenge for the Defenders. The Pirates took a 9-3 lead early and never let off the pressure. The 25-11 route that sealed the victory. 


Senior Ben Tiemersma had nine kills and five digs. 

Garret Vander Zee had four kills and four digs. 

Tyler Postma had 11 assists and four digs. 

Senior Austen Scammon led Dordt with 14 digs. 


Felipe Guirau had 15 kills for the Pirates.

Felipe Chagas had 11 kills. 

Luciano Bucci led all players with 48 assists. 


Dordt will close out its regular season on Tuesday with a game against Morningside at 7:00 p.m. in Sioux Center.
