The Dordt College men's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss to Lindenwood-Belleville on Saturday. It was the second game of the team's five game spring break road trip.

Lindenwood-Belleville got off to a strong start and took a 16-7 lead. The Defenders responded with a 6-0 run to pull within three. The Lynx recovered and took advantage of a few Dordt errors to keep the lead. Dordt made it 22-23, but a service error by the Defenders and a kill by the Lynx gave Lindenwood-Belleville a 25-23 victory.

The score was tied at 13 midway through the second set and the Lynx went on a 5-2 run to go up 18-15. Dordt finished the set with a 9-4 run and took set two 25-22.

Set three had 14 different lead changes. A rally by the Lynx tied things at 20. The Defenders couldn't respond and Lindenwood-Belleville kept its momentum going and won set three 25-21.

Dordt had an opportunity to take set four, but couldn't swing momentum in their favor fast enough. Strong play in the middle of the set from the Lynx gave them the separation they needed. Dordt strung together a late rally, but Lindenwood-Belleville held on for the 25-23 win.

Garret Vander Zee led Dordt with 23 kills on 39 attempts. He also had eight digs.

Ben Tiemersma had 16 kills and eight digs.

Austin Clark had 37 assists to carry Dordt.

Austen Scammon led all players with 15 digs.

Diego Tamayo and Justin Talley each had 13 digs.

Sebastian Karmy had 23 assists for the Lynx. He also had 10 digs.

Kyle Monton had 14 digs to lead the Lynx.

"We saw some good growth in areas of mental focus to execute on offense and defense. Our ability to stretch our focus throughout a full set and then throughout a full match is vital to our future success."

Dordt will play Culver Stockton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday in Canton, Missouri.
