The Dordt College men's volleyball team picked up right where they left off Friday night with a 3-0 sweep over Maranatha Baptist University on Saturday. 

The Defenders took an early 4-3 lead in set one and never lost it. A 10-1 run in the middle of the set broke things open and led to the 25-15 opening set victory. 

Missouri Baptist stayed close all the way through set two. It took a 5-1 run at the end from the Defenders to give them the 25-21 victory. Ben Tiemersma led the way with six kills and Garret Vander Zee had five in the win. 

It didn't take long for Dordt to complete the sweep in set three. The Defenders shot to a 15-10 lead and finished the set on top 25-14. 


Ben Tiemersma led Dordt with 15 kills and also added nine digs. 

Garret Vander Zee had 13 kills on 22 attempts. 

Tyler Postma led the way with 37 assists.

Austen Scammon had 18 digs in a strong defensive effort. 


Isaac McKee had nine kills to lead Maranatha Baptist. 

James Rossiter had six kills and Derek Wallis added five. 

Joel Smith and Taylor Dafoe had 10 digs a piece. 

Dafoe also added 18 assists.

The Defenders will play Morningside on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in Sioux City.
