Northwestern defeats Dordt 6-5
HOW IT HAPPENED
A two run homerun in the bottom of the seventh inning led to a 6-5 win for Northwestern in game two of their doubleheader in Orange City Tuesday night.
Dordt grabbed a 2-0 lead when Chris Schrieber doubled down the line and then scored on an error.
Northwestern got a run back in the bottom of the inning on two hits. The hosts followed with three more in the third inning for a 4-2 lead that stood until a three run sixth inning for Dordt highlighted by an Andrew Pullar two run homerun. Dordt scored the go ahead run when Austin Pullar singled in Jason Holwerda.
Both teams went scoreless in their next at bats.
Northwestern came to bat in the bottom of the seventh and led off the inning with a single. After a sacrifice bunt Dordt got the second out at third inning when the runner tried to advance to third on a shallow fly ball to left field. Josh Fakkema then ended the game with a two run homerun with two outs.
Dordt had eight hits with Logan Cline and Andrew Pullar each getting two hits. Pullar had two runs batted in and scored two runs.
Justin Bond pitched three innings with four earned runs allowed with three strikeouts and four hits.
Jadon Vander Molen pitched three and a third innings and took the loss with two runs allowed on five hits.
Dordt is scheduled to host Northwestern on Saturday at 1:00.
Dordt is 5-20 and 2-16 in the GPAC.
Northwestern is 9-9 in the conference and 15-19 overall.
