Midland defeats Dordt 4-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt lost a 4-0 decision to Midland in Fremont, Nebraska in game one of their doubleheader.
Midland scored three in the third inning on four this and took advantage of an error but Dordt was able to get out of the inning without any more damage being done as the Warriors left the bases loaded.
Dordt threatened with two runners in the fifth inning as Jason Holwerda doubled and Andrew Pullar was hit by a pitch. A foul out and a strike out ended the inning and Midland added a run for insurance in the fifth inning to lead 4-0.
Dordt’s next best threat came in the seventh inning with Chris Schrieber getting hit by a pitch to start the inning. A walk to David Laurenti put runners on first and second with no one out. A pair of pop outs and a strike out ended the threat and the game.
Holwerda’s double was Dordt’s lone hit of the game.
Isaac Buteyn worked until one out in the fifth inning and gave up four runs—three of them earned and struck out five and walked four.
Kevin Fokkema recorded an out on the mound and Justin Bond pitched an inning and third and struck out three and finished the game for Dordt.
