Doane def. Dordt 9-1


Doane scored three runs in the first inning and never trailed as Dordt fell 9-1 to the Tigers in a game played in Crete, Nebraska.

The game was the second of a doubleheader hosted by Doane that was originally scheduled to be played in Sioux Center this past weekend. Dordt remained the home team for scoring purposes.

Doane added a run each in the third and fourth and four in the sixth with Dordt answering with a run in the sixth inning. 

Dordt’s best early threat came in the third inning when the Defenders got two on with one out but couldn’t bring the runners around. 

Dordt’s run in the sixth came with back to back walks, a flyout that advanted the runner to third and Lucas Nelson had a fielder’s choice that scored Austin Pullar from third.


Dordt’s two hits were a pair of singles by Logan Cline and Lucas Nelson and Nelson also reached on a walk.
Logan Horne started the game and went four innings and was charged with five runs on five hits with three walks and he struck out two. 

AJ Bosscher and Austin Gallagher pitched scoreless innings in the fifth and seventh innings.


Dordt was outhit 9-2 and committed one error.


Dordt will host Midland on Friday, March 29 in a doubleheader that begins at 4:00.
