HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt College softball team bounced back after two losses on Friday with a 5-2 win over Jamestown in the first game of their Saturday double header.
Jamestown shot off to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Kassi Ward hit a two run home run off of Dordt starter Natalie Vos that scored Morgan Geiszler.
Neither team scored in the second or third inning.
The five Dordt runs came in the bottom of the fourth. Brooklyn Van Noort, Macy Jacobsma, Abby Smith, Natalie Vos and Jennifer Kooiker all got on the scoreboard for the Defenders.
Jamestown was unable to respond over the final two innings and Dordt walked away with the victory.
Natalie Vos pitched the first six innings, gave up one earned run and was credited with the win. Tianna Soodsma pitched the final inning for the save.
Marissa VandenBerg and Natalie Vos registered the only two hits for the Defenders.
Dordt will face off against MidAmerica Nazarene on March 1 at 4:00 p.m. in Olathe, Kansas.
