Dordt’s Matthew Van Eps ran a 1:51.7 and finished second in the 800 meters at the Drake Relays on Thursday afternoon in Des Moines, Iowa.

Van Eps won his heat and was two-tenths of a second behind Riley Bauer from South Dakota State who won the event.

Joscelyn Wind claimed 11th in the women’s heptathlon which concluded on Thursday afternoon. Wind totaled 4411 points and was 28 points out of tenth and was the top NAIA finisher in the event.

Wind ran 16.13 in the 100 hurdles; 27.1 in the 200 and 2:34 in the 800 meters.

She high jumped 1.63 meters, 5.1 meters in the long jump; threw the javelin 27.53 meters and threw the shot put 8.42 meters.

Competition for the Defenders resumes on Friday morning with the 4x800 meters for both the women and the men.
