Van Eps ran the first lap in 56.36 and was seventh out of eight runners heading into the second lap.  The sophomore ran an improbable 54.5 on his second lap to chase down the leaders and take first.  Van Eps was also a part of a national title winning 4x800 relay team on Friday.

The Defenders also sent competitors into the women’s high jump where Sarah De Haan cleared 5-4.5 to finish in a four-way tie for 14th place.  Cori De Jong cleared the opening height of 5-2.5 and placed 30th and Joscelyn Wind competed but did not clear the opening height a day after claiming fifth in the heptathlon.
