The Dordt College men's hockey team suffered a 4-3 overtime loss to Nebraska on Saturday. The Blades had a three goal lead entering the third period, but couldn't hold on to secure their second victory. 

All three Blades goals came in the second period. Keaton De Jong scored first four minutes into the period. Three minutes later, Mark Schouten went crossbar down and stretched the Blades lead to two. Caleb Koomans scored the third goal off of a Colin Price assist.

Evan Johnson brought Nebraska within two nine minutes into the third. Jordan Hank scored the first of his two goals a few minutes later to pull the Huskers within one. Nebraska pulled its goalie with 50 seconds to play and Hank put the tying goal in the back of the net 30 seconds later. 

Jon Cowley scored the game winner with less than a minute to go in overtime. 


David Burns played all 60 minutes and had 40 saves. 

Schouten's goal was his ninth of the year. 


Dordt will play Creighton in a double-header on February 8 and 9. The February 8 game will be at 8 p.m. in Sioux Center. The second game will be at 1:00 p.m. in Omaha.
