Hastings def. Dordt 81-56

HOW IT HAPPENED

Dordt was unable to dig itself out of a 27-14 first quarter deficit and fell to Hastings on the road 81-56.

The Defenders fought from behind and got to within 51-48 on an Erika Feenstra field goal with 1:13 left in the third period. Hastings scored the next five points to end the quarter and led 56-48.  

The Broncos put the game out of reach with a 25-8 fourth quarter advantage.

COMPARISON

Dordt converted 22-60 field goals and 5-23 of three-point shots.  Dordt struggled at the free throw line with a 7-16 day.

Hastings made 25-69 field goals, 10-28 three-point shots. The Broncos made 21-30 free throws.

Dordt had a 41-37 rebounding advantage.

Dordt committed 25 turnovers and Hastings had nine turnovers.

DORDT’S LEADERS

Rachel Evavold had 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Erika Feenstra had 15 points and seven rebounds.

Siennah Stamness scored 11 and had five rebounds with two steals.

HASTINGS’S LEADERS

Taylor Beacom scored 16 points off the bench and Shandra Farmer scored 15  with eight rebounds.

Dordt and Hastings will play again Wednesday, February 20 in the GPAC Quarterfinals in Sioux Center at 7:00.

The winner faces the Concordia-Briar Cliff winner on Saturday, February 23 in the semifinals.
