The Dordt Defender women’s basketball team battled but couldn’t get over the hump in falling by 13 to the Morningside Mustangs in GPAC basketball Saturday. The loss was Dordt’s first of the season in six outings.

Morningside pushed the lead to 55-42 with 8:18 left in the third quarter but Dordt rallied with Erika Feenstra starting the charge with a three-point shot and the Defenders closed the difference to 60-58 as Payton Harmsen hit three-point shot at the 4:49 mark to end the 16-5 run.

Morningside responded by extending the lead back out to 74-64 third quarter lead and Dordt was never closer than eight before winning 97-84.
